So I try not to post stuff everyone else is posting (unless I'm breaking the story :) ..) but the onscreen keyboard hw demo video (after the break) is pretty cool. And I've got some site updates.
So cupcake is out and everyone is dying to know how it works. (Except ttuttle, who spent all of yesterday bragging about his copy..) Well, if you want to find out (or just read about it) you are in the right place.
(Update: at 4pm PST today, JBQ and company finished merging cupcake with the master git repos.)
One of the unnoticed parts of the cupcake source release has been brought to my attention by it's main author, and boy is it a doozey. You're gonna love this. SanMehat has been working on a great new feature for an upcoming version of Android.
Google has finally released their internal code repository, and we've got the details.
With the release of Nandroid Backup v2.0, infernix brings fastboot backup and restore to anyone with an engineering bootloader (or ADP1.)
You heard it here first. The ADP1 is being delivered to eager users across the USA, and its very much (but not 100%) like a UK G1. Well, now we've got the update.zip image for you so you can flash (or reflash) the stock image to your phone. (Yes, this works on rooted G1's also.)
So the first actual dev phones are starting to arrive, and we've got a comparison article coming up if you want to know what you actually get for your $300 shipping fee. But for now, it is confirmed that the bootloader is, at first glance, the same (same logo, same version information) as the one we announced earlier.
So you want to join the party and flash your own boot image, but its a weird undocumented format and you don't want to spend all year researching it in the source. Well, I'm here to help.
THIS IS NOT THE PAGE YOU ARE LOOKING FOR.
All my android content is now at http://andblogs.net/ including this page (http://andblogs.net/fastboot). The content below is out of date and unmaintained!
Just a quick list of some common tasks in fastboot. Please feel free to add more in the comments. I'll keep this up to date as I go.
I promised to talk about building the tethering binaries instead of using mine, so here you go. Most of it is built as part of the Android source build (and all of it comes from the upstream Android sources) so I'm just going to cover the more general case of building kernel modules for the G1.
