Whats going on

So people were asking what I've been up to. In short, new toys for my Nokia 770, HD upgrades for my HTPC, and some work on my other site. Read on for more details.

On the Nokia 770 front, I built a power injector and enabled usb host mode, which is really nice. Plug keyboards, memory sticks, etc into it with impunity (as long as the 9v battery lasts anyway.) I'll post pictures later. I also picked up a new accessory, and its well worth it. Writing reviews and such for my other site with it. (But not this post, as the browser is still not stable enough for me to trust it to check all the links without crashing.)

This weekend's disaster is trying to get Freevo to use my new 'supported' HD capture card. So far tvtime is working great to deinterlace and clean up the Tivo output, and I can manually view hidef live on a few channels, but capture (or even viewing through Freevo or MythTV) is still elusive. (Suggestions encouraged - MythTV is really jumpy and cuts out a lot, and the fonts are microscopic. I think it could do it if I could disable the stupid DVR-style ringbuffer until I get a fast drive in there for it to use. Freevo has vague docs about enabling DVB support, but they don't actually work. I really like the interface better though.)

Oh, and I'm starting to push my other site, Scubafriends Network. It started when we got tired of losing track of people we met while traveling, and its for divers, travel enthusiasts, and anyone interested in warm, sunny fun. Check it out.
