So I'm back from diving in the Bahamas. (I can't recommend Xanadu highly enough. Nor can I find words to properly express my disgust with the Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach and RCI Vacations. Enough of that here, more below if you want the quick version.
In other, more pressing news, I'm unemployed again.(It comes down to not working for a friend unless that friend is an experienced manager.) So if anyone needs an experienced systems designer, programmer, systems administrator, manager (of most/all of the above) or lead, etc, let me know. Must be near/in DC or Baltimore, or involve some/all remote work. Travel is fine, sales-support is not (I hate lying to customers more than necessary.) So.... tag me.. I'll put my resume up here when its finished.
As far as the Wyndham, its a horrible "resort". Start with the food. Breakfast was ok, but we didn't get it until the last day (dive van got us too early in the morning). The rest of the day the food was really really bad. The landscaping is a disaster, there is zippo for activities, pretty much nothing is included outside the basic bad-food and cheap booze. All that would be barely ok for a cheap dive vacation, but then it all got worse. Had to sit through a lovely high-pressure must-buy-now sales pitch for RCI memberships. (It was going passably until the sales manager decided that an educated consumer was his biggest nightmare. I was more than willing to consider it, if I could get hard numbers and do some research when I got home. He -literally- told me to leave his sales floor and not come back.) I wouldn't stay there again if someone paid me. At least not for less than a few thousand dollars. Its just not worth it.
